idec were recently awarded the detailing, fabrication and installation of several buildings at the RAAF Base at Ambereley. Our scope includes 180t of structural steel over 3 new buildings and the refurbishment of a number of aged trusses in an aircraft hangar.
We have utilised 3D scanning technology to scan the trusses due to be refurbished. This has provided an accurate model of how and where the trusses currently sit in the building, enabling us to take them down, restore, strengthen and place back in their original locations.
idec are working with Laing O’Rourke on this project due for completion late 2017.
