The team at Humes Darwin engaged idec solutions to design & construct a new enclosed REO building and a roof system over the freestanding gantry crane. The brief was that the building had to be comfortable for those who would work inside the building while workers under the gantry crane needed to be kept dry during the wet season and shaded from the extreme UV during other times.
Insulating the roof of the REO building together with low level fixed louvres to allow the breeze inside has achieved the brief while the roof over the gantry crane will include a percentage of skylights to maintain good visibility.
