idec is proud to announce that the new Taroom Weather Watch Radar is now fully operational after an extensive testing and commissioning process by the Bureau of Meteorology.
The Taroom Weather Watch Radar was delivered by idec Solutions as part of the Federal Government’s $28 million weather monitoring allocation for North West Queensland.
The tower provides:
• Improved rainfall rate measurement for use in flood warning operations;
• More accurate calculation of accumulated rainfall and stored soil moisture;
• Better short-term forecasting of rainfall and severe weather; and,
• Enhanced tracking of the location and strength of wind changes – benefiting aviation as well as firefighting and emergency responses.
As Principal Contractor, our scope of works included civil works and concrete; tower installation; construction and fit-out of the equipment building; radar/radome installation and all electrical, mechanical and plumbing.
